STEEL PRODUCTION

Türkiye’s crude steel production in March 2023 decreased by 18.6% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 2.7 million tons.

In the first quarter of the year, production decreased by 21.5% to 7.4 million tons.

STEEL CONSUMPTION

Final product consumption in March was 3.4 million tons with an increase of 33.7% compared to the same month of 2022, and 8.9 million tons with an increase of 4.9% in the first quarter of the year.

FOREIGN TRADE

Export

In March, exports of steel products amounted to 810.6 thousand tons with a decrease of 52.8% in terms of quantity and 725.1 million dollars with a decrease of 54.3% in terms of value.

In the January-March period, compared to the same period of 2022, exports amounted to 2.2 million tons with a decrease of 48.3% in terms of quantity and 1.9 billion dollars with a decrease of 51.5% in terms of value.

Imports

In March 2023, compared to the same month of 2022, imports amounted to 1.7 million tons with an increase of 42.9% in quantity, and 1.4 billion dollars in value, with an increase of 5.9%.

In the January-March period, compared to the same period of 2022, imports amounted to 4.1 million tons with an increase of 5.9% in quantity, and 3.5 billion dollars with a decrease of 16.8% in value.

Foreign Trade Balance

The ratio of exports to imports, which was 92.6% in the first quarter of 2022, decreased to 53.9% in the first quarter of 2023.
