​​Turkey’s efforts to find a cure against the COVID-19 outbreak – which has had devastating impacts all around the world since its first broke out in China last December – paid off well, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank said at a virtual event organized by Turkey’s Scientific and Technological Research Council’s (TUBITAK) COVID-19 Platform.
Sharing the latest developments in Turkey’s researches to produce an effective vaccine against COVID-19, Minister Varank announced that 4 candidate vaccines were developed in Turkey and animal trials proved them to be successful.
“Turkey strengthened its hand in vaccine developing capability, with 3 Turkey-based firms poised to produce 160 million doses of vaccines,” explained the Minister.
Furthermore, TUBITAK will establish a subsidiary center to develop medications and vaccines, Minister Varank added.
