FOREIGN TRADE AND IMPORT PRICES – FEBRUARY 2023

In February 2023 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to January 2023, increased by +0.4% for exports and decreased by -1.4% for imports. Exports towards Eu countries decreased by -0.8% and rose by +1.7% for non-Eu countries. Imports decreased both for Eu countries (-1.2%) and for non-Eu countries (-1.6%).

Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the previous three months, increased by +1.1% for exports and dropped by -6.5% for imports.

In February 2023, compared with the same month of the previous year, both exports and imports grew (+10.8% and +3.1% respectively). Outgoing flows increased by +5.5% for EU countries and by +17.2% for non-Eu countries. Incoming flows rose by +11.4% for Eu area and decreased by -6.5% for non-Eu area.

In February 2023, trade balance registered a surplus of +2,108 million Euros (-1,889 million Euros deficit for Eu countries and +3,997 million Euros surplus for non-Eu countries). Excluding energy, trade balance surplus reached +7,919 million Euros.

In February 2023, import prices decrease by 1.7% on monthly basis (-0.1% for the euro zone, -3.0% for the non-euro zone). Over the last three months, compared to the previous three months, import prices decreased by 5.1% (-0.3% for the euro zone, -9.0% for the non-euro zone).

Import prices, compared to the same month a year ago, increased by 1.3% in February 2023 (+5.6% for the euro zone, -2.2% for the non-euro zone).
