Consumer price index in Bosnia and Herzegovina, February 2024

In February 2024, on average, price levels recorded an increase, with a rise of 0.5% across divisions of the COICOP classification compared to the previous month. This upward trend was particularly notable in certain sectors.

By the divisions of COICOP classification, in February 2024 as compared to the previous month, the price index increased in several key areas: Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.4%, Alcoholic drinks and Tobacco by 0.8%, Housing and utilities by 0.3%, Health by 0.4%, Transport by 1.7%, Communications by 0.1%, Recreation and Culture by 0.5%, Restaurants and Hotels by 2.0%, and Other goods and services by 0.5%.

Conversely, there were lower price levels observed in certain divisions, notably Clothing and Footwear by 1.4%, and Furniture and Furnishing by 0.4%.

On an annual level, the average price levels saw a notable increase of 2.1% in February 2024 compared to the same month of the previous year. This increase was reflected across various sectors, with Food and non-alcoholic beverages rising by 2.1%, Alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 4.6%, Housing and utilities by 0.4%, Furniture and furnishing by 3.2%, Health by 2.7%, Communications by 2.3%, Recreation and Culture by 4.4%, Education by 1.9%, Restaurants and hotels by 8.0%, and Other goods and services by 8.1%.

However, there were decreases in prices on average in divisions such as Clothing and footwear by 6.4% and Transport by 0.6%.
