Average gross earnings for January 2024 amounted to EUR 2,317.82. Compared to earnings for the previous month, they went down in nominal terms by 1.3% and in real terms by 0.7%.
Average net earnings amounted to EUR 1,477.34. Compared to earnings for December 2023, they went down in nominal terms by 3.4% and in real terms by 2.8%.Compared to earnings for January of the previous year, they were higher in nominal (gross earnings by 8.1% and net earnings by 5.6%) and in real terms (gross earnings by 4.6% and net earnings by 2.2%).

Earnings down in the public and the same in the private sector

Compared to earnings for the previous month, average gross earnings decreased in the public sector by 3.7% (in the institutional sector general government, they went down by 2.6%), while in the private sector they remained unchanged.

The highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply

Average gross earnings were the highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (EUR 3,318.66) and the lowest in accommodation and food service activities (EUR 1,652.78).

Compared to earnings for December 2023, average gross earnings increased the most in transportation and storage (by 3.6%) and decreased the most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 8.2%).
