According to the results of the Foreign Trade Index prepared by the  Association of Turkish Construction Material Producers (Türkiye IMSAD), in March, a double record was broken in both monthly and annual construction materials exports. In the index report, which presents the situation of the construction sector in foreign trade, it is emphasized that the possible effects of the Russia-Ukraine war will be seen in the coming months, and that the increase in unit prices contributes to exports.

The construction materials industry maintained its strong performance in March, reaching $3.33 billion in exports, the highest monthly total since the index began to be measured in 2013. At the end of March, annual (past 12 months) exports surpassed $33 billion, setting yet another record since the index began to be recorded in 2013.

In March 2022, imports of construction materials increased by 15.7 percent compared to the previous year and reached 943 million dollars despite the rising risks. The highest import after May 2018 was realized with 316 thousand 957 tons in March. The import unit price of the construction materials industry remained close to the monthly average of 3 dollars and became 2.98 dollars/kg in March.
