According to the national statistics office CBS of the Netherlands, the Dutch rate of inflation stayed nearly steady in April at 9.6% when computed using Dutch methodologies. Food prices are rising in particular, with vegetables up 12.6 percent, meat up 10.5 percent, and coffee and tea up nearly 14 percent.

Food prices are rising in particular, with vegetables up 12.6%, meat up 10.5%, and coffee and tea up nearly 14%. In an effort to reduce inflation, the government reduced fuel taxes in April, but the effect was minor, with the overall rate lowering by only 0.1 percentage point from March.

The April rate was 11.2 percent, calculated using European methodologies that remove rental housing expenditures. This is down from a high of 11.7 percent in March, but it is still significantly higher than the eurozone average of 7.5 percent.
