The Consumer Price Index in South Korea was 110.11(2020=100) in January 2023. The index increased 0.8 percent from the preceding month and rose 5.2 percent from the same month of the previous year.
The index excluding food and energy was 107.34 in January 2023. The index increased 0.6 percent from the preceding month and rose 4.1 percent from the same month of the previous year.
The Consumer Price Index by expenditure category in January 2023 was below.
The index for Food and non-alcoholic beverages, Clothing and footwear, Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, Furnishings, household equipment & routine maintenance, Health, Recreation and culture, Education, Restaurants and hotels, and Miscellaneous goods and services increased 1.7 percent, 0.3 percent, 1.1 percent, 1.2 percent, 1.1 percent, 0.7 percent, 0.4 percent, 0.5 percent, and 1.8
percent respectively from the preceding month.
The index for Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, and Transport decreased 0.1 percent, and 0.9 percent respectively from the preceding month.
The index for Communication remained unchanged from the preceding month.
