According to a report by the state news wire MTI, the National Bank of Hungary’s (MNB) business confidence index dropped to -7 points in August from -2 points the previous month, further dipping into the negative.

Companies’ assessments of the current environment decreased from -4 to -11 points, while their expectations decreased from +1 to -2 points.

On average, businesses used 94% of their capacity, which is 2% less than one month prior.

The measure of expected changes to headcount continued to decline, falling to +5 points, while the gauge of companies’ tendency to invest increased to +25 points from +14 points.
