Consumer price index in Germany, December 2022:
+8.6% on the same month a year earlier (provisional)
-0.8% on the previous month (provisional)
+7.9% on an annual average in 2022 compared with 2021 (provisional)

+9.6% on the same month a year earlier (provisional)
-1.2% on the previous month (provisional)
+8.7% on an annual average in 2022 compared with 2021 (provisional)

The inflation rate in Germany is expected to be +8.6% in December 2022. The inflation rate is measured as the change in the consumer price index (CPI) compared with the same month a year earlier. Due to the December immediate assistance, among other things, the inflation rate was significantly lower than in the previous months. It stood at +10.0% in November 2022 and at +10.4% in October. Based on the results available so far, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that consumer prices are expected to decline by 0.8% compared with November 2022. The annual average inflation rate is expected to stand at +7.9% in 2022.
