In contrast to the slightly corrected 3.71 percent increase in the previous month, producer prices in Romania decreased by 0.88 percent year over year in July 2023. Due to decreases in mining and quarrying prices (-25.81 percent vs. -27.75 percent in June) and manufacturing prices (-2.37 percent vs. -1.85 percent), producer prices fell for the first time since November 2020. In addition, costs for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation climbed less sharply than those for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (5.59 percent vs 24.10 percent in June). Producer prices increased by 0.56 percent on a monthly basis after falling by 0.55 percent in June.
