Operas, Ballets, Orchestras, Choirs and Groups, 2019 in Turkey

The number of opera and ballet audiences was 322 thousand 189 in the 2018-2019 season, with an increase by 10.0% compared to the previous season. The number of audiences in orchestra, choir and groups was 275 thousand 343 in the 2018-2019 season, with a decrease of 20.0% compared to previous season. The number of orchestra audiences decreased by 19.1% to 142 thousand 153 compared to last season, while the number of chorus audiences decreased by 14.4% to 50 thousand 671 and the number of groups’ audiences decreased by 24.4% to 82 thousand 519.

The number of shows performed in opera and ballet halls decreased by 11.4%

The number of shows performed in opera and ballet halls decreased by 11.4% to 179 in the same period. The 84 of these shows were national shows and 95 of them were foreign shows. National shows were exhibited 287 times, while foreign shows were exhibited 327 times. Foreign shows were followed by 176 thousand 21 people, and national shows were followed by 146 thousand 168 people.

Totally 2 thousand 416 personnel served in operas and ballets

In 2018-2019 season, 2 thousand 416 personnel including guest performers served in opera and ballets affiliated to the General Directorate of Opera and Ballet, the 44.1% of this number were female personnel. Affiliated to the General Directorate of Fine Arts; in the orchestras 42.0% of the 343 staff were female, in the choirs 37.6% of the 622 staff were female and in the groups 26.6% of the 380 staff were female.
